Solid Press, Great Price
They can be a bit finicky, but once adjusted, they work very well. The 2023 and newer units are definitely superior to earlier versions. I wore one out (took 8 years), so I bought one for each pistol cartridge I shoot--9mm, 357 mag, .44 mag, and .45 ACP.
Cases and the press must be kept clean.

Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Great deal - easy to use
Reloading 45 Colt, about to buy another one for 38 spcl. This thing once set up is great. I will say the instructions are a bit sketchy. But there is so much info on the net the provided instructions are not even needed. I have set it up for other calibers but why go through all that. They are so affordable you can have two or three with bench plates and still come out ahead.
Excellent value!
The best buy in a progressive press. Produces accurate loads. I have used Lee Precision products for many years and have been satisfied with their products with one exception, the automatic bullet feeder which I could not get to work properly.
Great Press
I use this press from 38 to 223. Take your time to start and learn the feel of the press. Always check your brass. 223 brass should be trimmed as per specs. The +/- .02 will not make a difference unless your loading hot loads. Watch you tube videos they will help you get started.
Not a bad press
This gives good results if you take the time to set it up correctly. I have had problems with it at first until I found a sight that has videos on the proper set up. Now it runs like a sewing machine. Most rate it low but that's because they didn't set it up correctly or completely cycle the handle. Also you need to get the feel for the priming system since it primes on the up stroke on the handle. I've loaded well over 1000 rounds on this thing and have only had 3 malfunctions that were my fault for not completing a cycle of the handle. You can't beat it for the price.
Great Press For The Price, but......
I have 2 of the Lee Pro 1000 Presses. I started out with one in .38 Special. Have loaded thousands and thousands of rounds on it. Works well, but you have to use the recomended primers. Others tend to jam up the primer feed. You also have to keep the press clean. Miss and primer, spill some powder and things start jamming up in hurry. I liked my .38 special press well enough that instead of buying the parts to convert it to 9MM, I just bought a whole press set up for 9MM. Now I have both set up on my loading bench. As I was setting up the new 9MM press and just as I got everything adjusted my wife yelled "dinner will be ready in 6 minutes" I had almost a full box of 50 rounds loaded before the dinner timer went off. That was at a nice safe steady pace, not trying to rush.
Almost good
Overall, very easy to operate but one constant point if irritation is the primer feed. Your luck if you get the through 50-75 rounds before there’s a misfeed or primer flip. It’s very difficult to recover from this problem without removing all the primers from the feed and cleaning the instrument. If the primer feed was not couple to the powder drop this might avoid the issue of the powder fouling the primer feed. I would recommend depending on the circumstances and with caveats.
Wrong Press
The description for this press indicates that this is the 2023 Pro 1000, but it is the "Prior" to 2023 press.
I returned the unit for a full refund and as of today, they have had my return for 17 days and I am still waiting for the money to post to my checking account.
lee 40 s&w 1000 press
watch the picture bought the press to reload for 10mm but the press is outdated and cant buy large primer pins, swapped over to 6.5 grendel small primers but primers not feeding
bought the 45 long (would give 4stars) swapped to 44 mag worked good have to watch carefully collet style primer pin moves up and doesnt remove primers and have to watch primer feed carefully
I wont buy this again
I had issues with 223 Remington case feeding into the de-primer position; more than one case would feed. Also, the powder measurer is highly inaccurate by as much as +/- 2/10 of a grain. So your loads are not accurate!! You are better off buying a single stage reloader!! This is ok for pistol reloading BUT NOT rifle reloading.
