I made a mistake about these mags
I made a mistake about these mags in a previous review, I only gave them a one star rating because of the constant jamming. It turns out it wasn't the mags fault, it was the Butler Creek mag loader. The mag loader was bending the cartridges causing them to jam. When I load the Butler Creek mags by hand they shoot just fine with no jamming.
Excellent Product
I've fired about 20 full magazines and without one single jam. Great product!!
Very Satisfied!
Have had ZERO issues with this mag in my 10/22. Looks great; works great!
Good design, better than hot lips
I prefer the Steel Lips to the plastic Hot Lips design. Though the Hot Lips are good mags, they have a tendency to jam and cause feeding problems. I find this is far less frequent with the Steel Lips. Lightweight, rigid and can be connected with other mags without tools or extras.
Best seller for decades
Butler Creek made an impact in the 1022 hi-capacity magazine market. These steel lips magazines are well made and was best sellers for decades. They work best with CCI and other high-end brands of ammo but are finicky with most bulk ammunition and hollow points. Would like to see a stronger follower spring to compensate for gradual fatigue and work better with a stronger recoil spring that cycles faster than a standard recoil spring. A great alternative for the Ruger BX25 at a lesser price.
Reliable feeding magazine
I use my 10/22 at the range heavily and this magazine has always been the most reliable. Very few jams and feeds rapidly
One of the better 10/22 mags
This is a solid 10/22 mags in a world filled with awful 10/22 mags. Solid construction, nice fit and finish, seats in the gun nice and tight with little play and feeds fantastically. Doesn't have a spring to get tangled up, instead uses a coiled strip of metal wound around a cylinder to provide constant feeding force. A seriously good mag, never had a problem with it. The only drawback is that I can only load 24 rounds into my mag, not the advertised 25.
Sloppy seconds anyone?
I bought one of these out of convenience recently. Man, what a sloppy fit up it was. I just bought a ruger bx-25, wow!! What a huge difference! I returned the Butler Creek mag and put the money towards another bx-25. For the price difference, these mags are not worth the "savings". I did not actually use it in my rifle....it just fit so poorly and loose.
Butler Creek 10 22, 25 round magazines
To be honest I haven't been to the range yet to see how these magazines will work once I start actually shooting. That being said, me being the way I am I took the magazines out of the packages and tried them for fit. Now I did not buy these for a 10/22. I am shooting a ruger rpr. It takes the same magazines and I wanted something more than a ten round magazine. So I purchased these. The first thing I noticed was that they were very snug in the well. I actually had to sand down the sides so that they would fit in the magazine well properly. They do feed and extract like they are supposed to. Again I will see how they do at the range this coming weekend. For now I am going to only give these magazines a 2 due to the fact that I had to do some finish work to make them work properly. I would recommend them but with the understanding that they may have to make some adjustments.
Very cheap quality
I bought 3 of them. 2 lasted long enough to be used twice and 1 lasted long enough to be loaded 3 times. Very expensive for cheap quality when they are almost disposable magazines.
