GUNSTOCK OIL

GUNSTOCK OIL Reviews & Ratings

Pure linseed oil, specially refined to dry in just 2 to 3 hours to a tough, hard, easy-to-touch-up finish. So simple to use, you can even leave sanding dust to help fill pores. Apply stain (if desired) and follow with finger-dunks of Lin-Speed. Smooth out with the heel of your hand and set aside to dry. First coat will "freeze" sanding whiskers for easy removal, ending time consuming steaming and de-whiskering. Stop working so hard at your stock finishing! Sand it well, then APPLY Lin-Speed and LET DRY! Starter Kit: Get started right away with the Lin-Speed Gunstock and Fine Woodwork Starter Kit. The kit contains the familiar 2 ounce jar of “GB” Lin-Speed, 3 pads of triple zero steel wool, a pair of food service gloves, simple to follow illustrated instructions. Half Pint: This favorite oil finish is now offered in larger containers. These larger containers are great for large projects like furniture, bar tops, guitars, and just about any fine woodworking project. Expect coverage about 2 to 3 times that of varnish or polyurethane but unlike varnish or polyurethane Lin-Speed Oil is a no build finish that does not peel, flake, or chip and touch up is a breeze.

SPECS: 2 fl. oz. (59.1ml) net contents jar.

GB Lin-Speed is The Best
Easy to use just follow the directions included. Turns an old stock or forearm into a thing of beauty! Durable, waterproof, and can easily be touched up if need be. I wont use anything else. I like it much better than urethane finishes, Cleans up easy as well.

lin-speed, not just for gun stocks
I love this stuff. I tried it on an old ruger 10/22 birch stock that I had no gun for as a trial stock. Now I need a gun for that stock! Then I refinished a high grade shotgun stock, that came out unbelievable. I was so impressed, I stripped down my dresser and night stand. I've done several gun stocks, all come out unbelievable. You can see wood grain come out of the wood! I'll never use anything else!

Worth the work
I applied the first coat with a sponge - it will full of bubbles. I sanded it out and put on another coat - more bubbles, and more sanding. I did this about 20 times - then I saw what was happening! The wood had "depth" it look like you could reach down into the wood...it was beautiful. The last two coats were applied wit my finer tips - no bubbles, just a gloss so high I had to knock it back a bit. My next stock got far fewer coats, lacked the "depth", but still looked darn good. If you have the time this stuff can give you a great looking stock...in a hurry, don't use a sponge applicator.

My Favorite Wood FInish
This product is easy to use and gives superior results. I have used several oil and oil/varnish finishes, but none compare to Lin-Speed Oil.

Great Stuff
Lin-Speed is great. The last reviewer makes a false statement about the dry time of Lin-Speed. It does not need to fully dry between applications. Only 3 to 6 hours between applications is necessary even if not fully dried. It is easier to take down an application easier if not fully dried. Lin-Speed is quick and you can get at least 4 applications done in one day. Please call or e-mail the manufacturer as he is an extremely helpful person to deal with.

Tried & True
Linspeed oil is a tried and true product I have been using to refinish gunstocks for over 30 years. It works exceedingly well, provides a beautiful finish from a soft satin to a high gloss depending on how you use it. I would not consider anything else on my personal weapons. Its only con is that is is ESSENTIAL to allow each coat to dry before applying the next. That can take up to 2 weeks depending on the weather. So, if you want a rapid job, this is not the product for you. On the other hand, if you wan t a durable, long lasting classic looking stock, this is precisely what you are looking for.

Lin-Speed, try it, you'll love it!!!
I just did an '03 Springfield. I stripped the old gummy finish off and sanded the piece nice and smooth then put on the Lin-Speed. It soaked right into the piece and within four thin coats it was beautiful. I found that the little jar full will go a long way cause so little is needed. Great stuff. Customer service is great too. I called them and got to talk to the owner about dry time and he gave me all the info I needed. Nice people and excellent product.
