Awsome upgrade
Added this to my colt ss 1991a1 and it made it much more ergonomic. For a carry gun, being able to drop the mag when needed with out breaking my grip is a must. I will deffinetly be buying more to add to my others.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Nice option
Package states not for tactical or carry use. Web sight does not mention this. Had to return.

Better and faster than OEM
So much better than OEM on my 1911. Well worth the $ and needed.

Great Design!!!
Wilson Combat really did their homework with this mag-release! It drops right in, and functions flawlessly! Install a set of "VZ" grips, and the release performs perfectly as well. Will not snag nor hang-up in/with professional grade/competition holsters.

One of Bill Wilsons best products
Besides working great it looks great giving the gun a different look. It helps my reloads without having to reposition the gun which has increased front sight back on target time . I wish I had installed this on my race gun years ago . I really like the way it protrudes rearward . I drop my thumb down and I am right on it . I hope it works as well for others as it does me . PRAY, PREPARE,and PROTECT . GOD BLESS AMERICA

Wilson Combat oversize mag release.
Wilson Combat oversized mag release dropped right in my ATI FX Military, functions properly, and looks good on my gun. I can now access the mag release without having to adjust my grip on the gun.

Exactly as described
This magazine release is as advertised. It is really a drop in fit, no gunsmithing needed. Remove your existing retainer and spring, install those in the new release and back into your 1911. This release allows for a complete release of the mag without any adjustments. Usually there is a bit of fitting required, but not with this one. I'm impressed, note, I don't get impressed with advertised "Drop in parts " claim. The only con which is advised by Wilson, not recommended for conceal carry, due to the extended release sticks out a bit too much for conceal carry. Not really a con, read the indication before you buy!

Great for range and competition use
I have installed three of these on Colt 1911s, two on 5" Government Models and one on a Combat Commander. They have greatly reduced the amount of grip shifting I have to do to release a magazine and, in typical Wilson fashion, have worked perfectly dropped in right out of the box. I have had no problems with mag drops due to accidently bumping the release and I don't even notice the oversize release while shooting. I use a thumbs-forward grip. Common sense cautions: The release pad extends back over the grip and may not fit and work properly over large, rounded, bulky grip panels. You might be able to install it okay but then not be able to press it in far enough to release a magazine. Check the hex screw that holds the pad on the mechanism for tightness before each shoot. The screw can work loose. I haven't used Loctite on the threads because I have to remove the pad each time I remove the grip panels for cleaning - the pad blocks the removal of my left side Crimson Trace Laser grip panel. I have not tried to use an IWB holster with this release installed and I believe that some holsters could be tight enough to cause the mag to drop each time you holster your gun. This has kept me from installing these oversized releases on my carry guns. Still, it is certainly possible that they will work great with some IWB holsters. I have had zero trouble with this using my OWB Blade Tech competition holsters. This oversized release works great within these limitations and I highly recommend it.

Great
I had trouble with the stock release, with my stubby little thumb. This helped %100! I had to do mild file work to help the mag slide in but that's it. It's nice and tight and releases perfect.
