I've fit 2 thumb safeties with it so far. It's difficult hold a thumb safety when trying to widen the notch where the frame itself slides through. This block makes it WAY simpler. The corner angle for trimming makes things easier too. Highly recommend.

Excellant fixture, well thought out!
This fixture block is perfect for the Government or Commander sized 1911. Do not order this for an Officer sized 1911. Two of these blocks together work as a fixture to install in a vie with out damaging your 1911 frame! Excellent product and kudos to 10-8
Should be standard issue
This is by far the most used block on my bench; almost immediately regretted not getting a second one to use for vise work. This is kind of like the Swiss Army Knife of armorer's blocks. I kind of wish that Brownells would include this block in their 1911 Armorer's Kit.
Great little block
Great block for the 1911. Used it to take down a 1911 and install an extended safety. This was perfect for it. I plan to use it to install a new sear and hammer next.
My most often used bench block.
I love this block, I use it on almost all of my projects. The thumb safety holding feature is worth the price of the block alone. Bought several, one for each work bench.

You get what you pay for! This is a great tool, especially for repeatedly, punching pins in and out when building a 1911. It may be more $$ than other blocks, but you get a (somewhat) decent alignment guide for sear / hammer fitting that is built in. I would recommend!
Well worth having if working on 1911 pla
As other reviewers mentioned, accommodating an ambiance safety would be nice. Don't pay attention to securing the 2 pins for storage or while not in use could result in playing hide-n'-seek or ordering replacements. All that aside, the fixture makes fitting the safety when installing or replacing a trigger an easy task. Tensioning the extractor, and a host of other smithing chores are made incredibly easier. In the end this is just another well-designed 10-8 product well worth having on hand!
