Good tool, but missing one feature.
This tool (fixture) worked as advertised. I just wish it had a cut out in it for use with a frame that has an ambidextrous safety. Then the frame could be laid on its right side and still secure it in the holes used with the grip screw bushings.
Excellent product.
Awesome bench block. The pistol is located by the grip bushings, and the fit is great. Snug enough to hold securely, but not a press fit. All of the edges are beveled, as well as all of the holes. Blind holes for the hammer and sear pins would be nice, but the lack of a hole for the mag release is kind of annoying. I will probably add these holes myself. The hole for the extractor is a tight fit, when pushed through. Works well when filing on the fitting pad. It only has a relief for the mainspring housin pin on one side. While installing the pin from the right doesn't affect function, it bugs my selective OCD. The included pins can easily be misplaced... However, if you stand the block up on end, you can put the pins in the large center through hole. To keep them there, put a tightly rolled disposable earplug (or two, depending on style) in there as well.
nice addition to a bench block
This is a nice addition to a bench block, very handy for working on 1911's. Comes with a set of small pins for sear work... they will be easy to "misplace".
Not for Officer's Model 1911
Milling & centerlines of drilled holes are not positioned for use with Officer size 1911's.
