Top Dog BCG, well worth the $$
I have noticed 3 things that have increased with this BCG: Performance, Reliability & Ease of Maintenance… Yes it is costly but it delivers, nothing worse than paying hard earned $$ for something and it falls short!
So far, this is an Impressive BCG, and it takes a lot for me to say that… This BCG just runs smooth with minimal lube, and is easy to clean… Zero malfunctions as well! With just over 3,000 rounds down range on my 3-gun rifle…
After this season of 3-Gun, the real result will be in & I will follow up on my reviews!
Of the 3 Daniel Defense 5.56 rifles now outfitted: 1-Competition 3-Gun and 2 others, work.
I know only having 3,000 rounds down isn’t much of a test but so far this BCG exceeds my expectations in all 3 areas.
The 2 work rifles have similar rounds down range but I am only comparing the 3-gun setup BCG as it gets a whole lot more abuse during competitions! And I might mention that I do let students shoot that rifle, which is a completely different set of abuse!
Performance: the “Lubricity” of this sure seems to make the BCG run smoother & quicker; it feels very crisp upon lockup… The “recoil-pulse” is very readable, the lockup just a little quicker and crisper…
Reliability: I will be comparing this Geissele BCG to my Daniel Defense BCG on all of my setups.
Over the last 10 years in my Daniel Defense 3-Gun comp rifle alone, I have easily put over 20,000 rounds downrange on one single DD BCG. The DD BCG is finally showing some wear this year on the lock-up lugs, the cam-pin was replaced a few years back having a little bit of wear as well. I find that as “wear scars” present themselves they accelerate wear if not replaced quickly, which can easily bleed over to other parts.
Maintenance/Cleaning: Not much sticks to this new BCG and I run suppressed most of the time as well which should make for a much dirtier bolt! The coating on this bolt definitely shows cleaner running, along with using a good high quality Synthetic Lube, which has a higher flash point making this type of lube run much cleaner when exposed to higher temperatures.
I am used to running DD BCG's which definitely does require a bit more lube to run well... this new BCG runs with minimal lube! (I used the synthetic lube on both BCG)
I may also note that I do run decent ammo, not always Match Grade unless called for but decent ammo.
Also, over the last 40+ years working as a contractor, then retiring one career to become a professional trainer… I have noticed using the "same" decent brand ammo… gives your brain the proper predictable result, which increases training effectiveness on different engagements all due to consistency.
Anyways before I get to dang Windy this is by far the best Higher End BCG I have ever used, it runs clean, requires minimal lube, and is simply consistent!
Well worth the money if this is part of your “Life-Support” Equipment!
