This recoil spring hits the balance point perfectly. Ejection is consistent at about 8 feet from the gun. Using 2 of the faster hardball loads of 230 grains at 860 + fps. More moderate loads at 825 fps still function well, though ejection is closer to 6 feet.

I picked up Remington 1911-R1 Enhanced about 4 years ago only because it actually had good fit and finish and a really decent trigger pull. Rest of the my 1911 collection is split equally between a dozen Colt/Springfield. It rode the safe for 3 years until I finally decided to run a 100 hundred rounds through it. The first trip out was met with FTF problems, I swapped from Remington to Wilson magazines and observed the same issue. I trolled the forums and saw a number of complaints of FTF, FTE problems with the 1911-R1 and the associated fixes, polish feed ramp, tune extractor, magazines, barrel bushing, etc. it was like reliving my first experience with the old rattling war relics and 1970s Colt production. Now I could have just sent the pistol back for warranty repair and in the past I have experienced excellent customer service with Remington but, considering the holidays, pandemic and general climate of the country I decided to grab a couple of Wolff recoil springs. Problem Solved! The gun runs flawlessly. The pistol probably would have been fine after 500 plus round break-in period but, with todays price of ammo it was much more economical to just increase the spring rate from 16.5 to 17.5 lb. Stick to the the simple fixes first!
