What is the WOLFF - 7 lb. Spring?
Like all Wolff springs, these for the 1911 Auto in .45, .38 Super or 9mm are the finest, most reliable, longest lasting ones available. The springs of choice for most of the nation's top builders. Except where noted, all recoil springs are supplied with an extra power firing pin spring that keeps the firing pin stop in place and prevents firing pin “float”; an addition recommended by pistolsmith Bill Wilson.TYPE A - For Target (Softball) Loads were originally recommended to us by Major F. B. Conway, U.S.A. - M.T.U. Whenever lighter than standard bullets or powder charges are being used, a lighter recoil spring is a must for correct functioning; however, they MUST NOT BE USED WITH STANDARD (HARDBALL) LOADS. The 10 lb. Type A spring is the old favorite (for reduced loads) and for that reason we also make it available as a single item (without the extra power firing pin spring).

Wonderful for 45 ACP light loads.
Colt 45 Gold Cup Mark IV Series 70: The stock recoil spring is rated at 16 lb and simply will not efficiently eject and chamber with very light loads (SWC 200 gr, 4.6 gr name brand "powder"). Switching out springs to this 8 lb alternative (after progressively working down from 16 to 14 to 10, and finally 8) cured all ills.

Wolff springs rock
The quality of Wolff springs is top notch. I have changed all of my factory springs in my 1911 to the Wollf brand. I have been using them for many years and they have never failed me. They work so good that's all I use now.

Wolff 14 lbs recoil spring
Applied / used Wolff (14 lbs ) spring in Springfield target Pi 134LCA 9mm full size 5" barrel had trouble with lock open on last round , changed out to 13 lbs work fine every time on lock open last round believe Wolff regular 13 lb or variable 13 lbs more suited for the 115 grain factory loads with 115g , just my experiance .
