Quick Tip: Caleb's Latest BRN-180 Build With Cool Upgrades

As soon as our BRN-180® upper receiver with the 13.9" barrel came out, Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant had to get his hands on one because it's the best AR-15 barrel length of all, as he often tells us! Now, he's built up a rifle using that 13.9" upper, and he's ready to put it through its paces at the range. We know he means business today because he's wearing his purple plaid shirt and his matching purple-tinted shooting glasses. We'll see what happens when he sends bullets downrange through some targets.

But first, let's run down the list of goodies on Caleb's new BRN-180 "hotness": (1) Vortex flash hider permanently pinned and welded to the 13.9" barrel to achieve the NFA-required minimum 16" barrel length. Keeps the rifle's overall length as short as possible, with no need to register the gun as an SBR or build it as a pistol. You want that short length for a compact, maneuverable home-defense gun or truck gun. (2) Bravo Company BCM M-LOK® mount vertical foregrip. (3) American Defense Mfg. AD-Recon one-piece scope mount. (5) Brownells 1-6x24mm Match Precision Optic (MPO) with the "Donut" reticle.

Wait, there's more: (6) American Defense Mfg. lower receiver specifically for the BRN-180, with M1913 Picatinny stock mounting rail. This lower comes with mag release and bolt release, both ambidextrous. (7) Battle Arms Development ambidextrous safety selector. (8) Geissele Automatics SSA-E trigger. (9) Bravo Company BCM pistol grip. (10) JMac Customs folding stock with cheek riser. Remember, you can shoot a BRN-180 with a folding stock folded if you want/need to.

The BRN-180 upper doesn't have a shell deflector, so Caleb's got some spent shells hitting his shoulder. No big problem. And he is left-handed shooter, so right-handed shooters won't encounter this at all.
