Excellent bullet for target and hunting
I purchased these bullets for target practice and to try them hunting. I have never been one to use target bullets for hunting, but I have heard that Berger, among other brands, just thicken/thin out the jacket between hunting and target rounds. (this came from the manufacturer)
I am shooting these out of a Browning LR Max, 6.5 PRC, Nosler Brass, N570 powder. Going about 3K FPS, I am getting 1/2 MOA or less. If I do my part, I can squeeze them down to 1/4 MOA.
As for hunting, I used these on two white tail last year. One was a large doe, the other a smaller buck. The doe was shot straight broadside, 1/3 of the way down the body from the spine, straight above the shoulder. I didn't lose hardly any meat, and there was a hole the size of a baseball out the back side. I have never seen blood spray out of an animal on the bullet exit like that... She was about 125 yards away. Shot placement is going to be key... If you hit a bone or dense meat, I think you are going to have some trouble... I think it will go through, but it's going to grenade.
As for the small buck, he was running and I lead just a touch much, blew out the brisket area and destroyed the heart. Looked like a mortar round took him out.
As for performance, these cannot be beat. I am waiting to get an elk tag and I'm anxious to see how they do.
