Closest thing to actual magpul gear tone
I am having a blast with this stuff. I have a full airbrush setup and this is a must have. I did A Rifle in an FDE camo mix up and one one full FDE. Matte clear coat is recommended when doing camo as doing several coats makes the camo have edges where paint overlaps. Camo just paint the colors until they are solid and clear coat it for durability while keeping a flat uniform finish. Solid coat I recommend no clear coat, if it does get damaged extra extra fine steel wool works great in smoothing the surface and then repairing.
great results
I bought the 4 oz bottle and did 3 complete ar 16 upper. lower, buffer tube and ha15 inch handguard using an airbrush.....very nice !! just make sure you use the white for a basecoat and you will be very pleased with results

Great stuff
Great product! The key is preparing the surface to paint! I like to clean with simple green then clean again with dawn dish soap and hot water using a scotch pad to scrub/scuff the surface. Just before applying paint I wipe parts down with a clean rag and acetone.A blast cabinet is nice too but not necessary!Duracoat is extremely durable if the parts are all prepped correctly
Great, Awesome Firearms Paint!
This is a super great product for sure. I have used Duracoat over the years several times. Its super easy to apply, and you get Awesome results using it. Wears great, and is super tough like what you would want from it. Now with my only... CON, for the product for DURACOAT. CON.... The only thing Duracoat needs to change is. The reference to how many Firearms the Duracoat can do. On a 8oz Jar. Duracoat says it does 4-8 Firearms. This is not at all Accurate. Maybe if you where Appling this to tiny pocket pistols, then yes I could see that. But in reality. You can expect a 8oz jar to do 2 Complete AR 15`s, and a few magazines, and 1 or 2 small red dot sights. No more than that. But I am more than happy with that. At about $25.00 dollars per Rifle... after shipping. You just can not beat it. Brownells is also very great to purchase from. Super fast shipping, and they always email you a tracking number. So in closing. Awesome Coating for Firearms Duracoat is. Also a superior Company to buy from, that is Brownells. Hope this helps everyone out there. You wont be disappointed with this product. Duracoat is... Easy to Use, Tough, Super Long Lasting, Great Price, and Protects your Firearms. What more could you want from a Product. Thanks again Brownells, and Duracoat.
Wow, looks HK stock!
I sprayed three coats of this over Parkerizing (no oil applied after Parkerizing). It was mixed 12:1 paint to hardener, and it came out looking just like real, stock HK finishes. I did have a little trouble with the paint drying a bit faster than expected. It got tougher for my airbrush to spray evenly near the end of the session. This could possibly have been solved by adding a little reducer to re-thin it.
Great for polymer parts
Extremely durable and resistant to most chemicals yet still flexible enough to stay on polymers when applied correctly. Very well suited in any color for refinishing polymer handgun frames when the substrate is prepared properly and applied with a professional airbrush kit. ( Profecional Gunsmith )
Great color and durable
I sprayed my Glock 22 lower and my Ruger LC9 slide with this color over 1 1/2 years ago. I carry the Ruger every day and I use the Glock at the range and at weapons classes. The paint is durable and so far neither weapon shows any signs of wear. I will definitely use this brand of paint for my next project!
About the best air-cure finish out there
I primarily use H-series (oven cure) Cerakote for my gunsmithing business, but for those chores where I cannot bake the part (scopes, flashlights, stocks, etc), I use Duracoat, as it's cheaper and much more durable than Cerakote C-series (Air cure). I originally purchased a regular O.D. green unit, but it just looked "glossy", regardless of hardener amount... so I tried this, "ultra-flat tactical" version, and it works beautifully! It is a deep, dark green with no reflection, between matte and satin, so it looks gorgeous without sacrificing the "tactical" look. I use an airbrush with this, and it is very easy to spray and after a week or so of curing, is quite tough! I always blast my parts with either garnet or aluminum oxide 120 grit media, so I don't know how this finish will work out of a part that's not been blasted for proper texture. I keep mine refridgerated for maximum shelf life (around a year). Overall, a good product.
Good stuff
Used severl colors of Duracoat including this one. The only reason i put 4 stars is because unless you are baking it takes so long to fully cure. I have waited the recomended time and with wild brass slinging 1911s they tend to chip. I have waited twice the amount recomended and not ended up with this problem. I still use this product and am happy with it but if you want a quick cure time bake it and save some time.
