Works well.
Easy to use and great results when directions are followed. Great for touching up all the little dings and scratches that are inevitable during building and servicing.
old finish restoration easy
excellent product does what it intended for.
i used this to repair the finishes on 3 different glenfield / marlin model 60 rifles.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Aluminum Black
Works exactly as it should. Wear gloves & apply in substantially ventilated area. Great for nicks & dings. Does work for larger areas but will need multiple applications.
Works Great
Works better than anything else I've tried for aluminium. I've now used it on an aluminum receiver and an aluminum scope mount base. I originally thought I would have to go with a homemade solution, which is a pain. And as usual Brownells comes through with their service.
Number 1 product.
Denatured alcohol First time use of this product, I used it to refinish a well used Ruger 10/22 butt plate, removed what was left of the old finish, sanded it and wiped it clean with denatured alcohol then washed it under hot water and let it dry, applied the aluminum black with a cotton swab until the butt plate was covered and let it sit over night, wipe it with a clothe the following day then rubbed a little bit of oil on it and it looked brand new. Very pleased with the results.
Worked Perfectly
I bought this Aluminum Black to cover some scratches on a blemished AR-15 Upper Receiver I recently purchased. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that not only did the product blacken the bare metal left by the scratches but it also blended with the anodized finish on the receiver so well that it is completely undetectable. Its like the scratches never existed.
Good stuff
Way better than painting aluminum. Makes no dimensional changes to the part.
Aluminum Black by BIRCHWOOD CASEY
This stuff worked great to hide scratches in the finish on an ar15 of mine. It will not fill scratches but it will turn the exposed aluminum back to black and hides the scratches. It may not be factory perfect finish in every situation but for the time and money involved Im happy with it.
Good Touch Up
I used this to touch up dings that occurred during AR builds. It works great for little blemishes.
Does the job if you "oops!" your firearm
I did a bit of profiling to my upper receiver to get a new dust cover installed and needed to touch up to make it nice. This is easy enough to use and first time I ever used it, I just did the "read all directions before starting" and "follow the directions". Areas where I "oops!"-ed got black-ish; looks just fine and arm's distance and only noticeable to me under inspection (or maybe someone else with a keen eye under close inspection). It's not a 100% perfect match with the anodizing but meets my needs and expectations. Only downside was this took a bit longer to ship and it's available at a retail store but I don't like going there unless there's no other choice.
