5.56 field gauge
I bought this along with a set of go/no go gauges....just to have all 3. I just feel better knowing that if I mix and match bolts to barrels between my set ups that they'll be safe....and function properly.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
The only one I need
I just need to know it’s good to go right now. I know of no one that checks headspace daily.
Perfect For What I Needed!
This was perfect for what I needed. I just assembled an AR from an existing built lower I had, a new upper, and a new BCG I had purchased separately. Being the BCG didn't come with the upper, I wanted to make sure everything was within safe tolerances, and this fit the bill.
ATTENTION COLT RE-BARREL DIY
Save yourself the time researching why your no go gauge goes in a brand new colt barrel. GET THIS for the MAXIMUM headspace NO GO gauge for COLT barrels. Colt barrels are DIFFERENT than all others and all other no go gauges aren't correct.
5.56 NATO Max H.S. gauge
This gauge is made by Forster which is great because I love their stuff. Very well made and marked perfectly.
Does its job, extra security
I purchased this to verify the headspace in my AR build did not exceed spec as I built the upper from individual parts. It checked out fine and shot fine as I figured it would. However, 22 bucks is a small amount to verify safety. Sure, you could just shoot it and make sure the cases arn't bulging or the primer backing out. Still worth it to me and it was nice to verify everything was indeed mil-spec. This should be a do it yourself job for anyone that can successfully build their own AR, just a matter of stripping the bolt.
A must have for the AR-15 owner
I bought this gauge to know without a doubt that my rifle would be safe to fire and free of any factory defects in headspace. This gauge is also a must have for any AR-15 shooter who wants to replace a bolt or buy a different bolt than what was originally supplied by the manufacturer of the upper receiver.
It works
Yes, it works! Take note before use, don't slam it into battery as it can damage the gun and/or guage.
A Design Oversight
For a headspace gauge intended for use in an AR-15, you would think that Forster would have cut a relief groove for the plunger ejector. Rather than chase ejectors around the garage, I’ll be doing some grinding on mine - and choosing more carefully in the future.
