When you need a little extra
The coating seems to extend the life of these bits. Always good to have a couple tucked away for the tougher jobs.

Worth the extra money
I am a hobbyist who works on guns. I don't do a lot of drilling and tapping, but when I do, I need it to be right. I am very glad I paid the extra couple of bucks and got the coated drill bit. I used it for a project in which I drilled multiple holes in steel and aluminum. I used Do-Drill as the lub (see review of Do-Drill) and the bit still looks like brand new. I highly recommend this bit.

Not the best for the price
Used for FSB install. Slow drill speed, did not get hot. Drilled FSB easily. Dulled immediately after reaching barrel steel. Resharpened twice by hand, was able to complete FSB. Worked, but not a good value for the price.
