LYMAN - #7 Trim Xpress Bushing(7.62x39mm)

The best trimmer for a competitive shooter since the Gracey and I own 3 of those. Easy to adjust, holds adjustments, quiet and much more compact than its competitors. I usually switch calibers when shooting various disciplines, hence multiple Graceys. This is much faster to adjust, consistent and easier to store. The cutter will not automatically chamfer case mouths but this makes it easier to adjust the initial cut. The carbide cutter does a good job of leaving a clean outer case mouth but the interior does need an extra chamfer step. Still overall easier to adjust this cutter and I use Bob Jones' carbide cutter on my older Graceys.

This trimmer saved time trimming 500 223 brass that would have been a slow process with my length trimmers. Indicating on the shoulder is far faster and adjustment was fast and accurate. Clean-up was easy and no tools are required.

Before buying check the bushing chart to ensure the cartridge you wish to trim is listed. Lyman does not make bushings for all, just the most popular. Example, .270 Weatherby can not be trimmed as no bushing is available however .300 Weatherby can be trimmed (although not listed on the chart) by using the .300 Win Mag bushing. Also, as the cartridges sit on the shoulder when trimming it is critical all of your cases are sized the same. Sizing for different headspaces within the same caliber will result in different trim lengths without adjustment, not so on trimmers that retain the cartridge by the base. Still, this is a good trimmer for those that have larger volumes of brass to trim without having to turn a handle for hours at a time.
