I used it with regular tap water. Cleaned three batches with the same solution. The brass was clean inside & out.

Works great in a stainless tumbler
This product works great coupled with a stainless tumbler and Brownells has the lowest price I've seen. I use 6.5 tablespoons to 1 gallon of water to clean 18-22# pounds of brass at a time in my MJR tumbler. I've used the Lemi-Shine and Soap combination for a few years and I found in large batches it was hard to get them to always come out perfectly shiny. With this, there isn't really any guess work.
