The Brownells Universal Rifle Action Wrench & Head is the foundation of the renowned Brownells Action Wrench System, providing professional-grade receiver support for barrel installation, barrel removal, and advanced gunsmithing operations. Designed to surround and support the receiver ring and recoil lug, this system helps distribute torque forces evenly across the action, reducing the potential for receiver distortion, twisted bolt ways, and other costly damage during high-torque procedures.
Constructed from solid steel, the wrench base features a unique machined relief designed to clear the recoil lug on many Mauser-type bolt-action rifles. Combined with precision-machined action heads, the system supports the receiver in a ring of steel to maximize surface engagement and create a secure working platform for barrel work and action service.
The Universal Head expands the versatility of the system by accommodating a variety of firearm configurations that may not fit dedicated model-specific heads. One side of the head is machined flat to fit many lever-action and single-shot receivers, while the reverse side incorporates a machined 45-degree V-groove that can be used with shims to secure irregularly shaped receivers.
