It seems that every optic requires a different length and thread, especially if someone gives you a hand-me without screws. Been able to match the screws of several red dots to mounting plates. I tool is incluuded to asisit in filing down length

I was always frustrated trying to perform simple tasks of drilling, tapping and having the proper high quality screw. This convenient kit provides an assortment of screws and a thread gauge to help ID. Bits, taps and dies aren’t cheap but they are available and necessary

One of the most practical and useful kits on the market
I have used the magnetic Master Gunsmith screwdriver sets for at least 2 decades. I have also purchased their specialized bits for Colt revolvers and Winchester rifles. One should NEVER use any bits on their firearms that aren't hollow ground. I have yet to break any of the bits--but I know Brownells would replace it because of their superb "Guaranteed for Life" policy.
