We're tickled as all get out to offer our Fixed-Blade, Gunsmith's Screwdriver Set designed and developed by gunsmiths for those gunsmiths who love solid, fixed-blade screwdrivers that fit their gun screws right - and simply won't have it any other way! THE PERFECT TIP & BLADE We started with the tip of the blade, the part that has to fit the gun screw properly, and the most important part of a gunsmith's screwdriver. The blade tips are then custom, precision-ground in a crisply radiused, hollow-ground shape to give maximum strength. And, the ideal parallel section is ground at the tip to fit the screw slot properly through the full width and depth of the slot. (This is what keeps you from buggering screws - a blade tip that evenly distributes the turning torque applied at the handle to the full width and depth of the screw slot.) We made the blades short (you're only 2½" from the work piece) to give you maximum control, eliminate wobble and tilt. Yet, they are long enough to give you a good view of the work you are doing. Tolerances are kept extremely tight for the entire blade, and the entire blade/shank is hardened to Rc 58-60 for proper, maximum strength and toughness in a screwdriver. THE SHANK DESIGN The long parallel shank maintains the same diameter as the width of the blade. This allows repeated regrinding’s and reshaping’s while still maintaining the original blade width. In addition, it allows the screwdriver to go into holes or recesses that are only screw-slot wide. The hex section allows you to use either an open-end wrench or one of the Midget Ratchets for more turning power on the heavier blades. Finally, we put a size-sequence number - from 1 (smallest) to 20 (largest) on the hex section of each individual screwdriver so you can pick the size you want quickly. HANDLE CUSTOM-DESIGNED FOR YOU The handles are custom-made to our specifications to fit your hand well. They aren't too bulky, yet give a mighty good grip when large, tight screws have to be broken loose, and "fingertip" control when dealing with tiny, delicate screws. We use the same handle on all 20 screwdrivers to keep the same hand-fit and feel throughout the set. DISTINCTIVE PRESENTATION BENCH BLOCKS In keeping with the superb quality of the screwdrivers, we designed two magnificent Solid Oak Bench Blocks to hold your Fixed-Blade Gunsmith's Screwdrivers. They are real beauties. Each one has 3 tiers to make them compact, you can see both the width/thickness of the blade, the identifying number stamped on one flat of the exposed hex section and, the 20 holes (Master block) or 10 holes (Add-On block) are far enough apart for good finger room. Every Bench Block is finished in a tough, non-gloss lacquer, and has anti-skid feet to keep it in place on your bench. Finally, the Master Set Block includes a Personalized Name Plate for you to mount on your Bench Block, we have included the order form with each Block for you to choose which style of plate you want and the wording you would like. It's all paid for - and makes the Block perfect for awards or gifts, and just telling the world the Screwdrivers belong to you. The Add-On Block for the Super Master Set does not include the name plate. SETS AVAILABLE We've packaged the Screwdrivers two ways: The Master Set™ has all 20 Screwdrivers, plus the properly radiused Bit Shaping Stone, the Bench Block, and a bottle of Brownells Best Penetrating Oil™. To create The Super Master Set™ we took the Master Set and added 6 Allen head fixed blade screwdrivers, 3 Phillips "Anti-Cam" screwdrivers, and the Add-On Block. As with all our tools and supplies, they are guaranteed to please you, the most demanding craftsman in the world - the working gunsmith.
