Makes the little swirls.
I use the 1/4 inch medium rods for engine turning bolts, pistol hammer, and trigger sides. I use a compound, rotary slide, to hold the part, and then advance the vise in equal increments. This gives perfect spacing to the swirls, and the finished job is quite attractive. The rods do wear quickly, and a bit of material is worn away with each pass. The job is time consuming, and tedious, but rewarding. Starting with a well polished surface, gives the nicest finish. I use cutting oil on the surface of my work. It seems to cut faster, and lend a bit more polish to the swirls.
