New Products: Colt, Sig Sauer & Edgar Sherman Designs

Brownells new products guru Paul Levy kicks off today's "show and tell" with something Colt fans are gonna love: a limited-edition 1911 Government Model Series 70 pistol in .45 ACP. Many 1911 fans prefer the Series 70, and this one comes with the most popular aftermarket upgrades installed right at the factory: beavertail grip safety, gold dot front sight, fixed Novak rear sight, fine full-coverage checkering on the front strap, and a classy pair of double-diamond checkered wood grips. Plus, the trigger has been nicely tuned.

 

If you're looking for a very compact everyday carry pistol, the SIG P365 X-Macro in 9mm Luger (9x19mm) may be just the ticket. The "Macro" means this P365 has the longer grip frame that gives you a better hold, and which also accommodates a full 17-round magazine - impressive for such a small pistol! An optic-mounting slot is standard on X-Macro models (cover plate included), and you can get your P365 X-Macro with an ambidextrous thumb safety, a built-in compensator, and Sig's X-Ray Tritium night sights.

 

Sticking with the Sig Sauer theme, if you're looking for a full-size 9mm competition pistol, consider the P320 AXG Legion, with its extra-robust yet still lightweight aluminum frame AND a built-in compensator. The G10 grip panels and backstrap insert, plus checkering on the frontstrap, keep the P320 AXG firmly seated in your hand. The trigger is surprisingly crisp for a striker-fired gun, with a short, distinct, audible reset.

 

From Brownells itself, Paul has a correct-spec AR-15 A2 rifle-length (20") barrel. It has the correct "skinny" profile behind the gas block and the heavier .750" O.D. from the gas journal forward. Plus, a chrome-lined chamber and bore (1-7" twist), phosphate finish, true rifle-type barrel extension, an A2 delta ring, and an A2 front sight base (sight post included) that is NOT F-marked. Muzzle threads are the standard ½"-28 tpi pattern. This is the PERFECT barrel for building a semi-auto M16A2 or M16A4 clone.

 

You'll need a sling to carry that new A2-style AR-15 rifle, and Edgar Sherman Designs has you covered with their Customizable Two-Point Slings. These easy-to-adjust 1" slings are lightweight and made of nylon webbing that is strong but not bulky. Plenty of colors and camo patterns to choose from, too. The ends of the ESD Sling can be looped through QD sling swivels (sorry, not included) or the sling loop in your rifle's buttstock.
