What is the MEC RELOADING - 9000GN AUTO-INDEXING SHOTSHELL RELOADER?

The 9000GN has all the innovative features found on the 8567N Grabber, plus automatic indexing and finished-shell ejection for quicker and easier reloading. Dropping the primer into the reprime station no longer requires operator “feel”. The 9000GN requires only a minimal adjustment from low to high brass domestic shells and shells can be removed for inspection from any station. MEC’s revolutionary Auto-Dex automatically moves the shells through each reloading stage by simply returning the handle to the top of its stroke. Accurately resized shells are achieved with each stroke.

Works as promised
Once you set up and make minor adjustments, if needed, this progressive machine can reload 400 or more shotshell per hour. The secret is to be smooth in pulling the handle down and not bringing it back up until the new primer stops moving in the base shell plate. If your primers dont load or stick in the tube, use paste wax or furniture polish to make the primer tray bottom slick. If the handle jerks or is not smooth on the upswing, clean and lubricate the sizing collet fingers. Same if shell doesnt drop fully in collet. Never force handle if you feel hard resistance. Stop and check for primer tube contacting out of round hull or mis-alignments on one of the stations. Once you learn what can go wrong any problem can be corrected in seconds.

great press
Great press second MEC I have owned started with a 650 then bought the 9000g in 2002 loaded thousand of shells with very little problems.
3
Damaged powder bottle
The seal on 4 lb powder bottle was missing and screw lid was not tight. A little powder had leaked from the bottle.

Enormously Frustrating
Decided to move up from my MEC 8567 Grabber reloaders to the 9000GN. Looks good on paper but you end up spending most of your time fixing it. There is NO END of things that can go wrong. For every 50 shells loaded, you can easily spend 20 minutes or more on diagnosing the problem, fixing it, then cleaning up the mess of powder, primers, and lead. Split some lead? Plan on taking forever to clean it out. If lead gets into the resizing collet it bulges the brass and destroys the shell. For every 100 shells reloaded plan on throwing 10-15 away. If a ammo manufacturer had that kind of loss rate they would be out of business. This thing is one problem after another. Need to reload 1000 shells? Plan on it taking forever. I bought it to speed up my reloading time so I can shoot more. This thing will constantly waste your time and money while leaving you enormously frustrated.
