REDDING - Profile Crimp Die 32 H&R Magnum

I shoot 45 ACP out of an Uberti Schofield with a the cylinder cut for moon clips. This die allows me to get a firm roll crimp that won't slip. The 45 ACP brass is cheap and holds an appropriate small charge of Unique for this application.

I bought this die for .45 Auto Rim and like it so much I got another for .38 Special. The crimp is more gradual than other dies, and it is easily adjustable to get exactly the amount of crimp you want.

When you read the instructions for the Redding Profile Crimp Die, the first that jumps out is they tell you to lube the case mouth prior to crimping. You are are very likely to get lube on the bullet as well. Regardless, your ammo is going to be sticky when you’re finished. I attempted to carefully apply a lite coat of case lube on the forward part of the, in the area I’d assume the die is taper/crimping. I can feel grinding when I crimp with this. Then I see brass debris on my sell holder, press etc. I’ve adjusted this for again and again without much improvement. I’ve used this die to seat Honaday 125 XTP, Berry’s plated 125 and Speer 158 lead. Perhaps there’s a secret way to adjust this die? I’m not happy with it.
