The Howa 1500 .308 Heavy Varmint 24" Barreled Action gives you a head start on building your own custom long-range rifle. It’s built around a forged steel short action (SA) receiver with a hammer-forged barrel with a # 6 bull / heavy contour. The one-piece, dual-lugged bolt has a precisely squared bolt face and dual lugs that make optimum contact with the receiver recesses. Comes with the barrel installed and headspaced. An easy-to-reach, three-position safety locks the bolt or can be set to allow the action to be unloaded while on safe. Inside the Howa 1500 .308 Heavy Varmint 24" barreled action is a light, two-stage HACT (Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger) trigger that delivers a consistent pull and a break that can be set from 2.5 to 3.8 lbs.

Great rifle but
This is my second Howa 1500 from Brownells and the first was an excellent example perfect in everyway for the amount of money. The second on I received was good but has blemishes on the bolt knob from poor packaging and some of the machining on the bottom metal itself is a far cry from the quality of what I received the first time. The bolt knob on the first I received also wasn't hollowed out which is my preference and the second was and machine tool marks are left inside. Not functionally impactful but cosmetically noticable.The accuracy of the first one I received (6.5 creedmoor) was exceptional. I hope the second I received (.308) is just as accurate as the first.
