For ONLY certain Ruger rifles
For those giving these mags a bad review because they don't fit their Remington 700, or their Howa or for calibers other than .308 Winchester (or derivatives): YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG MAGS.
These fit the RUGER Scout (GSR) or Precision rifles as noted in the positive reviews. That is why it says RUGER in the description.
I have a Ruger American Rifle. It takes the generic PMAG 7.62 AC 308 Winchester Magazine for AICS Short Action. Viewing the two side by side, it is easy to see that the Ruger specific mag does not match the contour of the PMAG.
Try the PMAG for AICS Short Actions if you are looking for a non-Ruger application.
Designed for Ruger rifles.
These magazines work perfectly in the Ruger Scout rifles. Which is what they were designed for.
Great Product
Shorter and lighter than the metal mags. Performs smoothly and flawlessly.
Work fine in the Ruger Precision Rifle
I have a total of 12 of these and all run 100% in my Ruger Precision Rifle. Two came with the gun, 7 were bought from Brownells and three came straight from Ruger. When I first got the rifle, somebody told me to get a Bob Sled for single round loading and I did, but actually have not found that necessary. A single loose round dropped into the action will feed straight up the spout when using any of my Ruger magazines. Now I will say that a precision gunsmith friend of mine tells me that AICS magazines and bottom metal quite often require some tweaking for reliability, depending on who made the bottom metal and who did the work fitting the metal. He says that can vary from magazine to magazine as well. You can take that for what it's worth if you're intending to use one of these in a non-Ruger rifle.
Big improvement over metal mag
Bought originally for a Ruger GSR in 223. Awesome mag, much better than the metal one that came with the rifle (and weighs about a pound). Also works really well with my Remington 700 using the Magpul Hunter stock and DBM bottom. I just wish a 5 rounder was available.
Excellent
Purchased for RUGER precision rifle in 308. Excellent fit and functioned perfectly with no flaws
Fit and function perfect in RUGER precis
Tried this magazine in RUGER precision rifle The magazine fit perfectly and function without any flaws.
Beware of using on Remington 700
I bought this for a Remington 700 build that needs AICS magazines. The magazine is designed for Ruger rifles and will need to be very mildly sanded at the magazine feed lips on the top. The Rem 700 bolt does not have enough room to push the cartridge without the sanding and will bind it up and cause a jam. Once sanded, the Rem 700 action cycles smoothly and feeds reliably.
magazines will not feed
magazines will not feed, bolt will ride over round as it enters the chamber causing a jam. i milled the feed lips back from the front to the back, removing about .5". now it feeds like a champ. do not use these with aftermarket bottom metal unless you are willing to modify the magazine. i assume that they work in a Ruger Rifle. they did not work in my remington 700 until they were modified.
Will not fit
Purchased one MAG. for a riffle that accepts AICS Magazines seems to fall out with the slightest bump the latch is not the same smaller than the Mag pull AC and the MDT AICS Mag.
