Pachmayr recoil pad

The medium pad was close to the size of the stock of a older FN 30-06 rifle. I had to plug one screw holeand drill a new hole to match the holes in the pad. Scribed the pad and attached it to the Brownell grinding fixture. Finished with a little hand filing and sanding. The customer was pleased with the finished pad which he said fit his mounting position perfect. Took about 2 hours working slow.

Outstanding Pad to Work & In Appearance!

I bought the brown version of this pad because they did not sell a red one. The machining and sanding of this pad was very consistent and smooth. Unlike other pads that require care in speed of the of the sanding disk; this pad did not. Very easy to machine and required minimal effort to sand the final steps in the custom fitting. It looks very appropriate on gun and the stippling of the rubber on the pad face prevents ANY squirming around of the gun on the shoulder. My only regret is that it is not offered in a red color for that more traditional look on SXS shotguns. I could not be happier with this pad and as expected Pachmeyer quality was evident.

Elegant/Appropriate On Traditional Guns!

If you want a classic looking pad to fit to a traditional hunting shotgun or rifle, I highly recommend this pad! It has 2 distinct advantages over all others I have found. 1) It can be found in .5 inch thickness which is perfect for a distinctive but not obtrusive looking pad. 1/2 inch pads are very hard to find, and the only other one I found was from Galazan. It had quality defects with a very uneven base (2 different ones tried) and is obviously of a cheap construction. 2) This pad has none of that and is of the quality you expect from Pachmeyer. This pad machines very easily, smoothly and has no grabbing or melting of rubber issues. If you are looking for a pad to help keep a gun from slipping around on your shoulder or when you set it butt down on a slick surface, this is the one! It also puts an appropriate finishing touch to a gun stock on a double or traditional rifle. I only wish they also made it in a Red color also, since traditional shotguns (doubles especially) do not look their best with a black pad. However, this Brown one is about all you can find in thin pads. The Brown color is very elegant looking and if they made a Red colored one, it would also be perfect. You won't be disappointed in this pad.

easy to grind and fit to stock, sanded the back side as well so it was a nice tight fit to the stock. great product is soft and durable.

easy to shape

would prefer a concave surface on the backside, but this seems rare on all pads that I have seen. the RP200 is very easy to grind to fit. very smooth surfaces at 120grit. Limbsaver pads much softer construction and harder to smooth. RP200 great for hunting rifles that will see short strings of shots. Its a bargain.
