LOMOUNT ADJUSTABLE PLAIN BLACK 1911 REAR SIGHT

LOMOUNT ADJUSTABLE PLAIN BLACK 1911 REAR SIGHT Reviews & Ratings

The Novak LoMount® 1911 .495” x 65° rear dovetail cut sight provides the capability of screw adjustment for elevation and drift adjustment for windage. This design was purposefully engineered to greatly enhance the strength, durability, and reliability of the adjustable type sights. The Novak LoMount® 1911 .495” x 65° rear dovetail cut sight reduces the probability of failure due to component fragility and virtually eliminates fatigue by a state of the art design.

  • Finish: Black
  • Adjustable

This new Novak LoMount® LMA series adjustable sight is a direct replacement for the current Novak LoMount 1911 fixed sight and it uses the same front sight height as its fixed counterpart. This simplifies changing to an adjustable sight by removing the need for a different height front sight to match up unlike all of today’s current adjustable rear sights.

Undersized
Like everything 1911 related, it requires fitting and the 'spec' is not always the spec. If you have a Springfield Armory 'Novak' cut, then this likely will not work unless the slide is peened to create a press fit. Novak and other manufactures identify SA cuts as being 0.500 wide and a Novak sight actually measures 0.480 not the published 0.495. The later part is why this is a one star review. If you punch out your SA "novak" and it measures ~0.495 then a true Novak will be undersized. Get your calipers and prove me wrong. The SA 'Novak' is closer in size to a Heinie.

It Lasted 10 Months
I installed this rear sight on a 4.25" Ruger 1911 .45ACP (SR1911CMD). This Ruger didn't sight-in well with the stock fixed sights. I was able to dial-in the sighting using this Novak adjustable rear sight and I was happy with this sight for 10 months. Then the sight adjustment screw came out and was lost while shooting. For now, I've reinstalled the stock fixed rear sight and I've not decided whether or with what rear sight to use next.
