American-made, and with minimal fitting by an experienced gunsmith, my old 1911 cycles perfectly in a 9mm reconfiguration. I used a number of Caspian small-parts to complete the build and am quite satisfied with the quality of all parts. The stainless steel looks excellent too.

I have used Caspian slides (as well as frames) for many years. I have found that they offer consistent quality (machine work & finish) as well as consistent measurements. For those wondering...The slides have measurements as follows: slide rail .632 +/- .002 slide rail height .118 +/- .001 slide groove .102 +/- .001 I am in the process of ordering another one in a few days from Brownell's for a 10mm build on a Springfield Ronin frame.

Very good quality. Used mainly for target practice. Does require fitting to the frame but with a few tools not difficult. Have used Caspian frames and slides with great results. Will use them again.

Highest quality slide as with all of their products thus far. I have built three 1911s with Caspian slide and frame combo. All 3 are superb and on par with the well known custom producers. Thanks to Caspian for making these parts available to the home builder. Yes, they do require fitting and I dedicate as many hours as necessary to get the optimal fit-up. When completed correctly and with care, these parts result in a very high quality 1911. If hand work isn't your bag, many high quality 1911's can be had at your local gun shop. My only concern is some confusion about slide/firing pin match up. A chart or reference in the product descriptions would help to match the correct firing pin with slide, especially since Caspian .45 uses the smaller diameter pin of the smaller calibers.

Fitted this SS Caspian slide to a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 frame. Rebuilt this 1911 with all new parts from Brownell's. The fit and finish of this slide is beautiful. I would definitely choose Caspian for all my future builds.

Fit perfectly except for a little work to get the barrel bushing to fit. I'm extremely happy with it. It isn't quite a "drop in replacement" but, I had no trouble fitting it to my frame. I highly recommend it as a replacement slide for a Colt Officers model. Especially, since the actual Colt ones are getting harder to find.

I mated this slide to a stainless Essex frame I previously had fit a Remington Rand blued slide on. The Caspian slide completed the all stainless look, and I fit an Ed Brown stainless barrel Colt Commander bobbed hammer and Smith and Alexander Mainspring. The frames blued componets were removed and replaced with all stainless slide lock, safety and mag release. The final product is a great looking, great shooting chunk of shiny 1911!

This slide is a stainless commander length, of course. It has the rear slanted classic style serrations. NO front serrations, lowered and flared ejection port, Caspian "C" logo on both sides under the rear sight and CASPIAN engraved in the left ( I think, i don't have it in front of me.) It is well finished, NO burrs, If there are any machine marks, they are not visible or i missed them. Edges were crisp but not sharp. I will end up rounding off all edges though. When i got it, it was in a box from Caspian with the stainless note (says if you aren't careful/fit the slide improperly there is a possibility you can break off the rear left part, the notch behind where the thumb safety locks in. IF YOU BREAK IT, YOUR SLIDE WILL NOT BE REPLACED) and some type of grease paper. [...]The slide would go about half way down my frame, which i think is about perfect. I haven't got to fit it yet but I am confident it will fit right. I have a used factory Colt .45 barrel going in it for now and it locked and unlocked very nicely. Locked SOLID. The factory barrel bushing that went with the Colt barrel fit very tight in the slide, but went in correctly. Very good. the firing pin and spring went in no issue ( small diameter firing pin [.38]) The extractor goes all the way in but fits very tight, i think i will sand a couple thousands off of it just to get it in and out. The one thing i didn't try was to see if the firing pin stop went in without fitting, and I haven't received my sights yet, so i can't say how they fit. I am very pleased. I was not able to find another slide i liked anywhere except Caspian themselves, the issue there is the wait while they build it, not that that is bad. I am very "picky when it comes to guns, cars, women, and parts for all..... I know what i want to build before i start. This slide actually exceeded my expectations. I will order another Caspian the next time i build a 1911.P.S. In this review, further down, it has multiple choices for pros and cons. One listed under cons is fitting required. I think this is good. I want every part to fit my gun as well as possible. Some may want to buy a part and it go straight on, thats fine too. SO, my opinion is that minor fitting is a pro. As

I ordered the slide for my build, a 45 ACP, the slide looks great and is good quality. I was hopeing to be able to switch slides back and forth, between the Gov and commander modle. The slide did not fit at all on the frame, so I took it to my local gunsmith to have it fitted, after about a week he notified me that not only uses a 9 mm fireing pin (which I knew) but also a 9 mm ejector (not mentioned anywhere) and that the 45 ACP ejector would not work at all. So as soon as my gunsmith puts the 45 back into its original configuration, I'll try to figure something else out. My recomendation, if you have a Mil Spec 45 this slide may not be for you.

Not much about this slide was good, but may have just been my luck at getting a not so good one. The front Novak sight cut was bad and took me 4 hours with a file and a knife edge stone to get it to work. I have tried 4 different barrels and hours of filing and stoning and I still can't get one to lock up right. Might be just my luck, but I may not buy another one, ever.....
