The Howa 1500 .308 Heavy Varmint 24" Barreled Action gives you a head start on building your own custom long-range rifle. It’s built around a forged steel short action (SA) receiver with a hammer-forged barrel with a # 6 bull / heavy contour. The one-piece, dual-lugged bolt has a precisely squared bolt face and dual lugs that make optimum contact with the receiver recesses. Comes with the barrel installed and headspaced. An easy-to-reach, three-position safety locks the bolt or can be set to allow the action to be unloaded while on safe. Inside the Howa 1500 .308 Heavy Varmint 24" barreled action is a light, two-stage HACT (Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger) trigger that delivers a consistent pull and a break that can be set from 2.5 to 3.8 lbs.

Howa 24” Heavy Barrel 308
Received my action last week. Shipped quickly. I ram a dry patch down the bore and then looked with a bore scope. I was disappointed with what I saw. Appeared to run in the grooves. I ran some patches with shooters choice and didn’t get the rust out. Had to resort to JB Bore paste. The barrel cleaned up nicely after that. Seems like Howa would use abetter preservative in the bore.
