Makes Glock look like EXO model
After coating several Glock slides I'll use nothing else when going for that two tone look. It looks just like the "EXO" coating that Glock sells.
Beautiful color
Coating a custom made AR15 made it much more valuable. Man I love this product!
Better than air cure paints
I have painted several slide and frames on 1911's and also did one of my own compacts and carry in a super tuck Crossbread holster with kydex and the kydex had rubbed through the bluing on the frame and slide, painted with Stainless and Graphite Black Cerakote and have carried now for several months and the paint on the trigger guard is wearing into the kydex not the paint. This finish is much more durable than air cured paints and bluing.
Remington 760 pump
I followed the HOW TO videos on you tube and turned out a beautiful finish. durability and utility, I chose cerakote H and very happy. sniper grey on the pump is a grey parkerized looking finish. graphite black used on clip. overall look very professional.
Good stuff
I wanted to make an all FDE AR-15. After doing a lot of reading, I went with Cerakote. The instructions were really straight forward. I mixed it to have a matte finish and I applied it with a cheap Harbor Freight airbrush. It went on smooth and easy, with no runs or problems. I baked it in my kitchen oven, which left a little bit of an odor in the kitchen for a few hours. I assembled the rifle and have run about 500 rounds though it. There are a couple of minor issues: First, some of the finish on the inside of the upper has gotten rubbed off from the action of the bolt carrier group. I am not sure I had a thick enough coat on the inside, so it could be my error. The other is a ding on the shell deflector. Both are a little disappointing, and not seen on my anodized rifles, but all in all I couldn't ask for much more from a spray and bake finish.
Excellent Gray Coating
I used this to do several sets of AR15A2 and retro receivers, and it turned out beautifully. I also reconditioned a worn Bushmaster receiver set, as well as the extension tube, lock ring, and receiver end plate, and the parts are good as new, or better really. It looks amazing on charge handles too.
Extreme Matte FDE Finish, Very Durable
I've been using this for a while now, and Cerakote is the go-to finish for me now. It does require some surface prep and the correct tools for the job, such as a compressor and gun, respirator, well-ventilated space, backspray booth, and an oven, as well as a system for hanging and transferring your parts without smudging them. I have done 3 complete AR15 carbines in FDE so far, as well as several receiver sets. One of the carbines was immediately subjected to some extreme cold weather, high-volume shooting for 2 days. So far, so good, even through the summer in a very humid climate. I just finished another and pics are posted.
Easy to apply
The directions given are very straight forward and easy to understand. I used an airbrush with an air compressor to apply the product. It went on easily and left a beautiful finish on my AR parts. I will post more later when I find out how durable the product is.
follow instructions & it's goof-proof
Prep work is the key, as with any product of this nature. If you use an HVLP gun, make sure you understand how it works. The only downside is no online viewing of color swatches. Although Cerakote is beginning to add product name labels to their product images on their facebook page..
