VORTEX OPTICS - Venom 5-25x56mm FFP EBR-7C MOA Black

I'm putting together a range toy/trainer around a Tikka T1x MTR .17 HMR, and I needed a decent rifle scope that wasn't crazy expensive. The Vortex Venom 5-25x56 FFP is perfect for this purpose. It does have very clear glass and appears comparable to my Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50 in optical quality. The 56mm objective gathers a ton of light and the 34mm main tube and mechanical components offer enough elevation adjustment for my purpose. The build quality is good for this price class, the turrets aren't the best I've ever felt, but they are solid, subtly audible, and not too mushy. And the EBR-7C MRAD reticle is among the best. I would have liked an illuminated reticle option, and I did look at the Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x, but I think the Venom is hard to beat for what you get in terms of value, and rarely would I actually need the illumination. The con is that the scope is made in China, but I still have to give this scope 5 stars. I'd probably step up to the Viper PST Gen II if I were looking for a scope to put on a long-range/ELR centerfire rifle, but the Venom is fantastic out to 300 yards, which I figure is realistically the farthest I will shoot this particular rifle. I'm very happy with this scope, and I feel it is great if you're just getting into precision shooting or looking to put some nice but inexpensive glass on a rifle. And you can't beat the Vortex warranty and customer service. I can absolutely recommend the Venom to others looking for a scope in this price range. This is my 2nd Vortex scope of the exact same model. There a couple thing different buy nothing is a show stopper. I love my first purchase and I'm sure this one will be no different.

Great clarity! Not to mention I can see 30cal holes up to 300m

First, I have only mounted this on a rifle and have not actually tested it's tracking or shot with it. What I can say is the glass is very clear for this price point. The glass is much clearer than a Burris XTR III and at a 1/3 of the cost. The turrets are nice and crisp. The variable magnification works nicely. The scope does seem "beefy" but that is just an unscientific opinion (probably due to the weight of the scope). Do note this is a very big scope. For this price point, this is a no brainer for a scope with very good glass and first focal plane and a zero set.
