The RMR® Type 2 was selected by U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) for the Handgun Reflex Sight (HRS) Contract after extensive testing and evaluation showed the RMR Type 2 to be uniquely reliable and durable in handgun applications.
A similar version of the RMR Type 2 HRS that closely matches the one chosen by the USSOCOM is available to the commercial market. Unique to the RM06-HRS is the hard-anodized coyote brown coating which is designed to reduce detection and special markings which identify its date of manufacture and unique serial number.
 A Go-To Optic for Deserning Handgunners

The original Trijicon RMR fast became a go-to optic for many of today's handgunners, thanks to the fast-growing phenomenon of slide-mounted optics. However, despite the incredible success of the RMR, Trijicon engineers thought they could do better, so they developed the Trijicon RMR Type 2 HRS RMO6 red-dot sight, which was quickly picked up by the US Special Operations community.

Building on the success of the original RMR, the Trijicon RMR Type 2 HRS RMO6 features a slightly redesigned housing that redirects stress away from the lens glass. The internal electronics of the system have also been updated to ensure they continue to perform reliably in incredibly rugged situations. Trijicon is now offering a commercial variant of this new optic that's very similar to the USSOCOM-adopted RDOs, featuring the FDE housing and special manufacture markings.
