It's rough at first but it smooths out
I always wanted a 2-stage Hiperfire trigger and it is finally here. I bought this on the very first day Brownells put it up for sale and I've been using the trigger on my mk-18 so-so clone. Installing the trigger is very easy and similar to the 1-stage trigger. Matter of fact I think it's exactly the same but I had an older 1-stage Hiperfire and the two hydraulic-like springs seem a bit different from what I remember. Initially the trigger was rough. The first stage did not reset when I let it go. Looking at videos of the installation, the guy at Hiperfire actually dry fired it about 100 times. I did that by taking the lower off and simply firing it on my finger so it won't hit the receiver directly. After about a few minutes of doing this the trigger finally felt smooth and the 2 stages can be felt and if I let go on the first stage, it will reset the trigger properly. I like using the red springs that came with the trigger that has a slightly better 2nd stage pull to it, for me. At the range during live fire, the trigger felt great. Overall I really enjoy this trigger. It is a really good, solid trigger. Only thing I don't like is how the trigger has notches on the back. Aesthetically it bothers me a little bit. I know the notches are for trigger shoes so I decided to use an old one I had around and it would not fit. I think I need to order from the actual Hiperfire store for the shoes to fit. I felt like the trigger should include a dry fire device and an option not to use the trigger shoe and have a smooth rear portion of the trigger. The reason I feel a dry fire device is needed is because initially you need to dry fire this trigger about 100 times before everything sets in and the trigger works as it should.
