What is the MDT - Skeleton Carbine Stock With Cheek Riser 9.75in FDE?

The SCS has been designed to allow maximum adjustability while minimizing weight. The adjustability allows each shooter to optimize superior ergonomics for multiple shooting positions. The weight has been minimized by skeletonization while retaining the strength of the stock. The SCS is crafted in 6061 aluminum with Cerakote®. The SCS with the cheekpiece weighs 1.91-1.96lbs depending on the length of the buffer tube used and without spacers. The SCS has 3 QD attachment points (one on each side and one on the bottom) to allow the shooter multiple choices for carrying. The SCS also has provision on the bottom of the stock to allow for the attachment of a picatinny rail.

The user is able to finely adjust the LOP by using the wheel mechanism located on the body of the SCS. LOP can be locked into position by tightening the lower bolt. The angle of the SCS can also be adjusted by loosening the top two screws on the body. This allows the body to align with the buffer tube by using the scribe mark down the buffer tube and the offset scribe mark on the SCS body. The carriage allows the user to finely adjust the cheek riser height through adjustment of the wheel. The position of the cheek riser is able to be locked in by tightening the set screws on the side of the carriage. The carriage also allows the user to adjust the position and angle of the carriage itself. This is done by loosening the bolts beside the wheel. The buttpad on the SCS can be adjusted horizontally, vertically, and angularly. By loosening the setscrew on the rear portion of the buttpad, the buttpad can be adjusted vertically. Once the buttpad has been moved up, two screws will be revealed. To adjust the angle of the buttpad, or move it in the horizontal plane, these screws must be loosened. The SCS must be used with a custom MDT buffer tube and standard castle nut. This MDT buffer tube has a scribe mark down the center to allow the shooter to zero the angle of the SCS if they wish. On the body of the SCS there is another machined marking to further allow the shooter to precisely angle their stock to suit their needs.

The buffer tube comes in various lengths to allow for proper Length Of Pull (LOP) for any rifle, while maintaining the correct internal length for an AR15 buffer system.

NOTE: FOR MDT Chassis systems and bolt action rifles. For ALL AR-15/AR-10 applications, you must use the non-adjustable (foam) version of the SCS unless you have a side-charger handle. All of the cheek riser models are the Adjustable.

Great addition to BRN-1 chassis
Mounted a Ruger American Predator barreled action with timney trigger into the Brownells BRN 1 chassis by MDT. This buttstock is a match. Fit & finish are great, with one exception. Location of cheek riser for me interferes with removal of bolt, so riser pad must be removed (2 screws)

Excellent upgrade for Ruger Prec Rifle
I recently purchased this stock for my Ruger Precision Rifle Gen 2 in 6mm CM. The stock is expensive, but a great upgrade for the RPR as described below. Also, I have included fitment and sizing info below. Although the RPR shoots well and the stock is functional, I have found the original stock to be difficult and clumsy to adjust, and only provides an acceptable cheek weld. I replaced the original stock with the MDT Carbine Skeleton Stock with adjustable cheek piece and 9.75 buffer tube. It took about 5 min and only required an Allen wrench and armors tool or castle nut wrench. Fit and finish are beautiful, and adjustments are smooth and precise. Min LOP with the tube screwed all the way in is 13-, and adjusts out 1 to 14-. If the buffer tube was screwed out a little, these numbers could be increased by - . The comb adjusts 1- and is wider, more comfortable, and provides a better cheek weld than the original stock. The only difficulty I had was that, as delivered in its most vertical position, the comb sits slightly higher than on the original stock ( above the buffer tube for the MDT in its lowest position vs for the original). My scope (Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 in 1.26 high Vortex bases) sits very low on the rifle (the scope bell sits above the hand guard), and the extra height of the comb on the MDT stock made it difficult to get low enough on the stock to see through the scope well. This was an easy fix provided by the stocks adjustments - I loosened the screws on the comb mount, and rotated the comb about 5-10 degrees away from my face. Due to the shape of the comb, this lowered the comb to about 1/8 - 3/16 above the tube, making it easy to see through the scope. The other option would be to use the next highest rings. The recoil pad has an excellent shape, texture and consistency - softer and more rubbery than the original. Also, I elevated and canted the but pad CCW to better fit my shoulder junction while prone. All adjustments are easy, intuitive, lock up solid, and are performed with routine tools. Finally, there is a milled cutout in the bottom of the stock to add a rail for a monopod. I found this took a 3 slot M-LOK rail perfectly. A 5 slot MOE rail also fit, but a 5 slot M-LOK rail would not due to different bolt spacing.. Hope this info helps.
