An excellent upgrade
I've used these before, which is why I purchased another. A square notch must be cut into the bolt sleeve, but this is easily accomplished with a moto tool. This notch serves to retain the safety. One of the less obvious advantages of this safety compared to others is the one piece design. Nothing to come loose or fall off. A proven, well designed product.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Mauser Part
Mauser 96 safety received on time and the part was good as promised. Modifying the the bolt was easy after careful figuring out how it supposed to work. The guide that came with was not much of help. Over all I'm happy with the results>

very good safety
works very well on the 93-96 Mauser action, you will need to fit this product, i used a dremell with a cutting wheel to cut the notch in the bolt shroud, remove bolt shroud and cocking piece, install safety in shroud and push as far as you can to the down or off position that is where you will need to cut a small notch, remove a small amount at a time, test the cocking piece in the shroud with safety in place (off ) position, then you can see how much more to remove so the handel on the safety is down as far as it needs to clea,r the cocking piece should go in and out with no effort, you may need to bevel the cocking to engage safety on, remember remove very little at a time look close how the safety works before you start

Good for the money
I recently installed 4 of these on some small ring commercial Husqvarna actions from the 30s and 40s. The bolt does lock down when the safety is engaged. Yes the finish is not the best but you will look long and hard to find a safety this inexpensive. Yes the good ol days are over but the do polish up easily. I prefer these over the Timney because there is no screw holding the 2 pieces together. That screw will go bye bye when you need it the most.

Mark II Safety M98
I have installed several of these safetys now and find them to be reliable. I don't care for the trigger safety on custom sporters (I guess I am old school that Way). The most difficult part of the installation is of course the grinding of the shroud. I had mine done in only 20 minutes using a dremel and cut off wheel. The principal when grinding is slow and steady. Don't try to hog out the metal in one or two cuts. Take your time and FIT the safety to the shroud. As far as the teflon tension piece is concerened; it is the weak link with this safety. I have played with the idea of drilling out the teflon tension hole on the safety and trying out a spring and ball setup. When I do I will let you know. Finish is flat, something I wish they would make in a high polish blue. As far as a safety goes though, I like it. It is definately more fashionable than the timneys; which I have also installed and twisted the soft screw heads off of.
