What is the AREA 419 - 8" Universal ARCALOCK Rail?

An accessory that's growing popular among shooters in the precision world is the ARCA rail, a sliding handguard that allows users to mount bipods, barricade stops and other accessories on a sliding unit that allows for fast, easy adjustment. However, Area 419 saw an issue with this friction lock, noticing that the system can slide under pressure. The company's ARCALock Universal Flat Rail solves this issue while still providing the benefits of the ARCA mechanism. Each Area 419 ARCALock Universal Flat Rail features a proprietary clamp design that mechanically locks the serrated sides of the rail into place, and the unit is backwards-compatible with all standard ARCA-style accessories on the market. Each edge and corner on the unit is radiused, so there's no way to cut or snag on any side of the rail. The entire unit is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and features a Type 3 hard-coat anodizing. Area 419 designers initially developed its ARCALock Universal Flat Rail with the Manners Composite Stock in mind, but the unit can be used with a range of stocks with an accessible front-action screw or front-attachment point.

Great quality. Easy install. Wish it came with longer bolts and stainless steel T-nuts, but those were easy enough to source from local hardware store. Installed on CZ 457 MTR.

excellent ARCA plate option

I have bought both the 8" and 4" (x2) rails. The 8" came well boxed with all the hardware for installation including T-nuts, screws and a couple types of replacement action screws. The 4" units come in a bag with no hardware so you will have to source your own hardware to instal it. The screw hole and slot on the rail are counterbored for flat fillister head screws no larger than 8mm. Socket head cap screws or round top machine screws available at most hardware stores do not work well because they protrude above the surface of the rail.

No-hassle fit on a Ruger 77/22

The Arca-Swiss system is becoming very popular among shooters who want to use their rifles with bipods and tripods. The system offers the advantages of good mounting security and stability along with flexibility and ease of use. After my experience with Arca rails on my precision rifles, I wanted to use it with my favorite Ruger 77/22. When I received this rail for the project I was delighted to discover that I was able to use one of the screws that was supplied with the rail to replace the factory sling swivel stud and the rifles front receiver mounting screw to attach the rail to the forend.

Great universal rail for all guns

Put this on an xlr element chassis, then moved to a MPA hybrid. Bolt gun's with a Manners style stock will require drilling. Only fitting issue was that I had dremmel 1 of the included screws down so that it would fit, and this is not a 419 issue. Area419 rails and attachments are top-notch. The locking method that they use allows for rapid changes on your bipod or whatever else you use. These rails are now going on all chassis guns, along with ar's. For bipod utilization, or bag use you just can't beat these.

Good plate, strange hardware

The plate works well but the choice of included hardware is . . . strange. Comes with bolts far too long for any handguard, will require cutting down as mentioned by others. The included T-bolt is of the cabinetry type. Good luck using that on a firearm handguard. As my friend likes to say, "Call me Francise, Ikea!"
