What is the DANIEL DEFENSE - AR-15 9" Omega Rail M-Lok Black?

The Daniel Defense Omega Rail is a premium upgrade to AR’s with plastic handguards and is now available with M-LOK attachment system. Its free float design allows the individual operator to install it with the Allen Wrench provided and requires ZERO modification to the weapon! It features integral QD sling swivel mounts, with rotation limiter, and an uninterrupted upper rail platform. This light weight, ergonomic rail system is meticulously CNC machined from Aircraft Grade Aluminum and is Military Specification Type III Hard Coat Anodized. All the Omega Rail fasteners are military specification.

The Omega Rail 7.0 is designed to work with Carbine AR-15 gas systems. The Omega Rail 9.0 is designed to work with Mid-Length AR-15 gas systems.

The Easiest Drop-in Free Float Rail
I've installed both the 7" and 9" versions, and this is by far the easiest rail to convert a fixed FSB rifle over to free float. There is no gunsmithing or parts removal involved. The rail installs quickly (save time by presetting the screws flush with the back end of the rail), and is rock solid. It's also slim, and feels very comfortable in the hand. I subtract 1 star because doesn't contain a heat shield, and I consider the screws fixing top and bottom to be small and thin for the stresses I expect it to endure. Highly recommended!
