Faxon Firearms is proud to partner with Q on the development of barrels for their revolutionary new round, 8.6 Blackout (8.6 BLK).

With barrels employing an impressive 1:3 twist rate, 8.6 BLK channels rotational energy to increase energy on-target. As with all Faxon Barrels, these 8.6 BLK barrels are machined from raw bar stock in their greater Cincinnati Facility. Faxon 8.6 BLK barrels are fully stress-relieved, air-gauge tested, Magnetic Particle Inspected, and 11-degree target crowned to ensure superior accuracy.

Constructed of 4150 CMV, each barrel goes through a battery of tests at each operation until finished in Nitride and final inspected. All Faxon Barrels are individually checked for headspace by precision custom hardened gauges and are backed by the Faxon Lifetime Guarantee. Consumer Note: At the time of release, 8.6 BLK is not SAAMI certified. Please use appropriate caution while firing and when using reloaded ammunition.

This 8.6 barrel is excellent. I really think the round is innovative and the quality of the barrel is great. Ready to try to take some game with it. It is really nice that since they tapered the muzzle that they added the adapter for other muzzle devices. However the Faxon brake for 8.6 and made for the taper so didn’t need it, but it is a nice touch.

READ, Must clean new barrel
Just put this 8.6 BLK on a new upper for my LR-308. Then I went to clean the unfired barrel. It took me 3 hours. There is a dried substance (I presume for button rifling) that is difficult to remove. I started with normal cleaning products (oh yea, I have been cleaning rifles for 40 years), then tried lighter fluid and then progressed to brake cleaner. None of these will effect this dried material. It looks like dried brown shoe polish. Aggressive 338 bore brush (plastic bristle), then push a patch thru with 338 jag and you will get this material out of the rifling. You can put it between your fingers and it just flakes, falls off. It is not dissolved out all. Repeat process for hours and I finally got to 98% clean before I test fired 2 rounds for function. I still got more dried material out after firing and subsequent cleaning. I would not shoot your barrel without cleaning. I used new Gorilla/Starline brass. The shoulders moved .007 and a 338 bullet could not be set in fired case.

Faxon 8.6 blkout 16 in barrel part number 10A863C16NGQ
The specs listed on the Brownell's site (product description) are not correct. The specs say the barrel takes a 0.875 Gas block. I ordered the Sons of liberty low profile gas block for 0.875 barrel / gas port and the gas block will not go over the flare at the end of the barrel. The Block opening measures 0.875 inches so I have to believe that something is wrong with the barrel. I'm not happy with the barrel at all.
