What is the NOVAK - Ambidextrous NXT Safety, Blued?

Novak takes the 1911 safety a step further with streamlined styling and several operating enhancements. A re-designed detent enables extremely positive engagement and helps hold the plunger tube against the frame to keep it from working loose. The right-hand paddle on the ambidextrous model is keyed and pinned to the shaft to prevent flex and eliminate the need for the grip to hold the right lever in place. It also permits a much slimmer paddle that works with any grip, including LaserGrips. Completely “carry beveled” with all sharp edges removed for shooter comfort and control.


SPECS: Carbon steel, blued, or stainless steel, natural finish. Fitting required for installation. Gunsmith installation recommended.

Best all around.
If you need an extended safety that just works right and installs with minimal fitting, this is it. This safety has the best engagement and disengagement of any I have ever used. It kinda resembles the old King's Gunworks safety which is now part of the March of Time.

Excellent Fit, Finish, and Function
Bought this extended safety to replace the factory one on my Springfield Armory Mil Spec. This safety was easy to install (please bear in mind that installing a 1911 thumb safety is somewhat non-trivial) and seems to work well. The plunger detent is responsive and positive. The finish is a matte gray (as shown in the picture) and while this isn't a perfect match to a parkerized finish, I prefer the matte finish over a glossy one. The lever is appropriately sized, ergonomic, and very well finished (no rough edges or sharp corners). I would highly recommend this in a quality, Mil-Spec gun.

Nice
I installed this safety on my springfield operator to replace the ambi safety. It took very little to fit it, once installed it works great. I had installed an ed brown carry safety first which was nice but it was way to thin. I really like this safety.
