Excellent, consistent results
I've been struggling to get a deep, black parkerizing on my refinished subgun magazines. I gave up on manganese phosphate and gave this a shot with zinc phosphate -- the results are uniformly excellent: very even and consistent.
I used Dicro-Clean No. 909 for degreasing, zinc phosphate parkerizing solution, and I mixed this blackener according to the instructions with 31% hydrochloric acid from Home Depot (swimming pool chemicals). After way too much fussing around with manganese parkerizing and various home-brew blackeners, this stuff makes for a very gratifying process. I'm really pleased.
Photo shows a previously very rusty Suomi drum after degreasing, bead blasting, degreasing again, a ~10 second dip in the pre-dip blackener, and zinc phosphating.
