What is the BLUE WONDER - Gun Black Kit, 2 oz.?

Two-part kits achieve a durable, beautiful, blue or black finish on complete guns or dinged-up areas on damaged ones without expensive equipment. Perfect for professionals who have only one or two guns to refinish and user-friendly enough for the home hobbyist. It’s great for touching up worn, rusted, nicked, or scratched factory bluing because it only sticks to the damaged areas, and leaves the good bluing unaffected. The “stop and start” feature allows you to go back and add coats of bluing before the developer sets, for a deeper, darker finish. The unique process does not use oxidation. Instead, it embeds micronized gold, silver, nickel, copper, and chromium onto the gun’s metal. Experiment for a variety of possible finishes. Gun Blue produces a color that matches many factory hot blue finishes. Gun Black produces a finish that’s a deep, dark black.

Will not work on stainless steel, aluminum, alloys.

Better Than Cold Blue
It's not the same as an actual blue job, but it chemically reacts with the metal and isn't just "painted on". I've used this product a lot for touch ups on customers guns that picked up a little rust. 0000 steel wool won't hurt the factory bluing but takes the rust down to bear metal. The blue wonder just sticks to the bare spots. I just did a complete barrel and I am happy with the results. If you want a $300 blue job out of a $20 bottle you are going to be disappointed. It's a 3 star blue job for 5-10% of the price of a 5 star. That makes it a 5 star product in my book.

Refinishish old firearms
The key to getting a great blue or black finish with Blue Wonder is surface preparation. I used Blue Wonder (Black) on a Star 9mm Largo. The surface prep took a lot of hours - removing surface pitting by sanding, steel wool, etc. If you have a propane torch or hair dryer and follow the instructions, you will get excellent results. I took the surface down to bare metal and shot the pistol "in the white" before deciding on the finish. If you do the surface prep and then follow the directions, your gun will look really good upon completion.

Case colors
I collect and shoot LC Smith shotguns. I've used this product to blue parts before and it works like nothing else. I just got a nice Smith Ideal grade in 16 ga. Case colors were completely gone, So I thought I would try something. Cleaned the parts, and used Blue Wonder to duplicate the colors, kind of just slopping it on, and padding it off with a rag. The results were unreal. Just another use for a great product.

great quick bluing product
this product will produce a good "black" finish if used according to the instructions, and is durable as long as you let it set for the amount of time stated (approximately 7 days). one thing to note: to get a "shiny" black finish, you have to polish the surface and then use the black once the metal is clean, as with other bluing products and processes. also, as stated in the directions, you must also oil the piece with the provided oil to maintain the shine and allow for curing. not oiling the finished piece, as stated in the instructions, will create more of a matte finish. this product will also stain you fingers black, so using gloves is highly recommended. overall I use this product above most quick bluing products due to the ease and quality of the finish it produces.

Exactly that, what I was looking for
Easy to use, gives full metal black. I was satisfied to use it with my 1899 Nagant revolver.
