What is the BROWNELLS - ACRAGLAS SHOP BEDDING KIT?
ACRAGLAS SHOP BEDDING KIT

The word ACRAGLAS has proven, during the many years it has been used by shooters, to be a true and fair product description. Acraglas is an accurizing material designed for the exclusive purpose of making a rifle shoot more accurately. Granted, it is a superior bedding compound used and sold as such by dealers, stock manufacturers and gunsmiths - but the fact remains: its prime purpose is to accurize a rifle. As the manufacturers of Acraglas, we cannot help but be proud of the many individual shooters and teams who have won big bore regional and Perry matches with Acraglassed guns ... and of the hunters who have sent us “before and after” targets made when sighting in their game rifles after using Acraglas. The basic materials used in Acraglas are those developed for the aircraft industry and have been adapted to firearms. Some of the many unusual features of Acraglas are:

  • Acraglas shrinks less than 1⁄10th of 1% when hardening.
  • Acid proof, waterproof, has superior insulating qualities, resists alkalis and will not rot or deteriorate.
  • Highly resistant to impact and will not dent. Is easily repaired.
  • Shelf life of over 5 years!
  • Completely seals the inletted side of the gun stock against all moisture, gun oils, solvents and sprays.

Includes - 28 fl. oz. (828 ml) Resin, 7 fl. oz. (207 ml) Hardener, 3 fl. oz. (89 ml) Release Agent, 8 oz. (227g) Floc, 24 3 oz. capacity Mixing Cups, 50 Mixing Sticks, 5 Packets Brown Dye, 5 Packets Black Dye and Instructions.

Once more Brownells... you are good !
I used the 2-gun acraglass kit first, and decided this was the best material to use on a rifle bedding job. The prep work on the gun and stock is the real challenge, don't cut corners on that. I learned that with my first few tries. That is why I didn't check Easy to Use, not because is not easy... in reality acraglas it very easy to use... but the preparation work on the gun and stock is where the real user success will be. Then decided the shop kit had to come to my place. Raising two teens took me away from the hobbie... but now I am having more time, and walla!, decided to bed a couple of rifles, the shop kit has been in my shelf for some years, and the third bottom of the Resin got solidified... I called customer service on a Saturday !, the suggestion was to warm the resin in water to reactivate it... so did warmed up water on the stove, in low heat, used the metal thing to separate vegetables from the bottom of the saucepan to be safe, placed the resin bottle in... kept checking it's progress... and magic happened !... just like new again !! Thank you for offering this product !!

Worked as advertised
I used this to epoxy a piece of Picatinny rail to an AR-15 upper receiver. It was a little thin, maybe I should have used the gel, but by careful use of tape and release agent, I had no problems. As for the dye, I used 2 drops of black in about 1/2 oz, and it was a perfect match for the AR finish. I thought the instructions were detailed and clear.

Really like this product
Ive been using Acraglass for decades to bed or repair stocks. I purchased this box to fill in holes that I made in a Polymer80 AR receiver. The holes got messed up and they ended up being oval. I filled in these holes with Acraglass dyed black and using fiberglass flock. I was able to re-drill the holes and Im using the lower receiver instead of having to throw the receiver away. Ive actually used it to repair cracks or broken plastic body parts on motorcycles Ive owned. The uses of this product is unlimited. Its very strong, can be drilled, or sanded, carved. It works on polymer, metal, wood. Great product.

Worked well for a first time user
I had the option of this product (not sure about flammable or non flammable) and the gel. I chose this over the gel for no specific reasons and was impressed with the results. I worked it in the tight spots slowly and filled in the larger spots evenly and much to my surprise when the action was removed there was a smooth as glass bedding job. I had no bubbles or air pockets. I did have some flowing into areas i didnt expect although i can NOT fault this product but blame more fault on using Play-Doh that was sort of hard and caved away. A little extra clean up on my part while it was just starting to stiffen up made easy work of my goof up. About 12 to 14 hours of setup and I popped the action out of the stock easier than expected. (Honestly almost dropped the barreled action when it popped free) A little trimming with a sharp blade and it looked like it was done by someone with years of experience. I have read a lot of reviews on other products as well as this product and this is the only brand that was available at the shop, so I figured of they use it there's probably a good reason. I'm glad I used it and will use it again in the future.
