What is the VIPER BENCH REST - Chambering & Truing Fixture?

This handy three-in-one fixture helps you chamber rifle or pistol barrels, including contoured barrels, regardless of length, from the chuck side of your lathe. Also use it to true up any bolt or bolt face, and to true up Remington actions. Fits a four-jaw independent chuck; may be modified for use in three- or six-jaw chuck. Machined aluminum tube with hardened steel setscrews that are brass tipped to prevent marring the work piece. Built-in safety feature prevents setscrews from sticking out beyond the fixture and catching on your clothes.

SPECS: Machined aluminum, matte black finish. Steel setscrews. 7" long, 4" O.D., with a 1Ѕ" dia. through hole. Slot size is 4-1/2" x 1.

Sturdy, Well Made

This is a sturdy well made fixture. Exactly what I need to center bolts and shorter barrels on my lathe for machining operations. Design is well thought out and provides additional capability to my shop.

Works great

Works great. I machined one of mine to use on my favorite 3 jaw chuck. I use it to chamber and thread barrels, true actions. I use longer brass tipped hardware on the outside adjustment positions when adjusting barrel runout for threading.

Great item if you work with heavy tapers

First thing the one i got was not coated at all it came in the white. Secondly it works great and made easy work of holding down a heavily tappered barrel.

Time consuming setup

Very time consuming setting up fixture not very user frendly. I would not recomend this item. I agree with other review may need to use it more to get better at dialing in

Not worth the dough

Works great with receivers but a pain to get a bolt running true. I would of rather saved the money and used the three separate tools I already have. Had two of the brass inserts fall off when I was releasing the first job. Could of completely finished the job on the receiver ,bolt and barrel in the time it took me to get the bolt running true with this tool. Maybe just need to mess with it more if I can find the time, Would also be very easy to make.
