REAL AVID - AR-15 Scraper

Very useful and efficient at removing built up carbon. Simple to use and does not take up much room. Would purchase again.

Used this tool today to clean seven M-4s and heres what I found. Works great for scraping the carbon off the firing pin, cam pin, inside bolt carrier, inside of the bolt tail, between the lugs and bolt face. Doesnt do so well on the bolt tail shoulder and bolt waist. Its cheap at $13.00. An almost do all tool for the AR-15/M-16 BCG in a small package. The bolt carrier scraper section is not as robust as the Brownells AR-15/M-16 Carrier Carbon Scraper 100-001-451. However, this tool is more versatile in being able to scrape carbon off more portions of a BCG. Ill have to see if it lasts as long as the AR-15/M-16 Carrier Carbon Scraper which has been used to clean bolt carriers several hundred times and is still going strong.

I've bought, or been issued, 5 different tools designed for cleaning the AR/M16 family of rifles. This is the FIRST to actually get the baked on crust off the bolt tail and out of the bolt carrier throat. The tool is designed to fit snugly, but doesn't require force. While it's sharp edges may dull with use, or abuse, it seems they could be re-honed with little problem. Further, the relatively low cost makes it acceptable to replace them when they degrade. I'm buying 3 more. 2 for my other rifle bags, and one for a friend. You can buy this one with confidence. My only complaint (moderate) is that it doesn't come with a cordura/nylon pouch for storage when not in use. An old Surefire mini-Mag belt carrier serves well, and I'll recommend this to the manufacturer.

Made in china. Enough said. I have several different bolt cleaning tools. But, everyone wants the latest and greatest doo-dad or gadget. I would have saved my money on this one had I known where it was made.
