Ed Brown Sear Jig
This puppy works beautifully! I mounted a NOS Colt sear, using my factory 1911 Kimber sear pin in the jig. I was able to get a perfect primary angle with the 0.020" shim at the mid-point of the jig body. I marked the jig body with a sharpie, so, I could keep the shim at the same reference point. For the secondary relief angle, I used a stack of old feeler gauges at 0.125" to raise the body of the sear. It only took about six passes on a soft Arkansas stone to get a nice relief cut. Lastly, I touched up the meeting point of the angles with a special black Arkansas stone to remove the burr. Mounting it in my machinist's vise made it a lot easier to use. This jig is very well machined. The result was a 4.5 lb. trigger pull that feels like a 3 lb. trigger pull in my Kimber 1911. There is no creep. I just dressed up a NOS Colt hammer's hooks a bit with a hard and then a special black Arkansas stone. Yes, I punted the Kimber MIM sear and hammer. The jig made this a 30 minute job with a spectacular result. You do have to download the PDF instructions from the Ed Brown website though.

Glad I Bought This!
I have a series 70 Colt Combat Commander that I use to carry. It always had a heavy, not too crisp trigger pull. And I’ve had some experience, as a hobbyist/ tinkerer with guns, so I thought I would try and smooth out the trigger on my Colt. I read the instructions, watched a few videos and turned my Commander into a smooth 4.5lb trigger pull from a 6.75lb rough trigger pull. Glad I made this purchase. Now the only creep, is the guy pulling the trigger! 😂
