What is the WHEELER ENGINEERING - Delta Series AR-15 Upper Vise Block?

The Delta Series AR-15 Upper Vise Block is optimized for left hand and right hand Mil Spec A2 upper receivers with carry handles, as well as flattop style receivers. Other AR-15 variants may be adapted with special attention to potentially non-conforming surfaces or features. The Delta Series AR-15 Upper Vise Block allows you to safely clamp on to your AR-15 upper receiver in a vise holding it securely without twisting, crushing or marring the finish. This block is the perfect product for torqueing a barrel on, removing a stubborn barrel nut or for simple gun maintenance and cleaning. It is made of a high pressure, solvent resistant polymer material which can withstand almost anything you can throw at it. The Delta Series AR-15 Upper Vise Block truly is the all-around product for your AR-15 gunsmithing, maintenance or cleaning needs. As an added bonus it includes a receiver insert with a gas tube alignment system, making sure your gas tube is always in line when installing a barrel and torqueing a barrel nut. Durable design holds receiver securely and fits both left and right-hand Mil Spec A2 upper, as well as flat top receivers.

The ultimate tool for attaching barrel nuts
There are many products out there at very high prices that are designed simply to part a new and inexperienced AR builder from his or her money. This is not one of them; it holds the upper receiver, whether a flattop, A2, A1, 601/602/604, or other standard type, and provides the correct support for torquing a barrel nut. It makes me cringe to see folks spending hundreds on devices that hold the barrel in place, and then torquing on a barrel nut, not realizing that all of that torque is being transferred into the barrel index pin, instead of the receiver, which is designed to take it. The AR is a robust-enough platform that this will not likely cause them problems, but the amount they spend on an inferior tool for the job is ridiculous. I will keep using this high-quality, affordable tool to build my family's, friends', and my own ARs, and when I want to apply torque to the barrel--where rods that lock into the barrel extension lugs are more useful, like the torquing of muzzle devices--I will just wrap the barrel in leather and hold in my vise; no need for expensive gimmicks.
