What is the WESTERN POWDERS, INC. - 22-26 Caliber 36" 8-32F Cleaning Rod?

One piece, coated spring steel cleaning rods push a brush or jag through the toughest fouling without bending. Dirt and grit won’t cling to the proprietary, nonembedding coating for extra protection of your prized rifle’s bore. The machined aluminum handle is slim enough to avoid contact with the stock when cleaning from the breech, while still comfortable and easy-to-grasp for excellent control. Bearings at each end of the handle let the rod rotate smoothly to keep the jag or brush fully in contact with the rifling. Color-coded handles help you make sure you pick up the correct-caliber rod. Each rod has a soft aluminum ferrule at the threaded end to help protect the breech or muzzle from damage.

SPECS: Rod – Stainless steel, nylon coated. Handle – Aluminum, anodized. Caliber-fits, lengths, and thread-patterns listed below. All are female threads .17-20 5-40 all others are 8-32.

Happy with this rod.
I've used Tipton cleaning rods for years, but the brass tip would flare from the jag tightening into the rod. Then you couldn't use it in a rim fire. I went to these rods and I happen to break a tip and I found out the tips are replaceable. Called the company and they sent me new tips screwed right on. So this is all I've been buying now.

Montana Xtreme Cleaning Rods
Very well-built. Strong and quality components. I have been using these for the last couple years and they are very durable. I have several different sizes now and they are all holding up well.

Best rod I've owned
I use this rod on my 30" .308 barrel. Heavy and very stiff with excellent bearings in the handle. The low profile handle easily clears the comb. The tip is not brass so if you use a non-brass jag, you wont get any false copper indications. As with any cleaning rod, you need to use a good bore guide to protect your barrel as well as the rod itself. Well worth the price.

Worth the money! Best on the market!
Very rigid, stable rod, does not flex, VERY WELL MADE!

Handle is great, coating OK, gap with any other tip is bad
Shooters elbow was getting worse from running JB thru dirty bores so ordered a pair of Montana rods, the handle design is superior for pushing & pulling. The coating isn't slick, it has an old school frying pan wrinkled nonstick texture to it but wipes clean so far. Unfortunately after 30 years I have a drawer full of ProShot and Dewey tips with 8x32 threads... about 10 threads on each tip. The Montana rods have very short threaded sockets, maybe 7 or 8 threads, so none of my existing tips will screw in far enough to shoulder... the gap is going to be a problem on the crown unless I unscrew the tip after each one-way pass... only thing I can think of is to grind some existing tips down 2 threads, since I didn't order Montana jags which *presumably* have shorter threads. For the price of these rods, pretty disappointed they're not compatible with any other brand's tips. And yes I have plenty of jags, the slotted tip was the last one I test-fit for the pic... none of the PS or Dewey tips will shoulder.
