What is the CLYMER - Long Forcing Cone Reamer, 12 ga?

Clymer’s version of the long forcing cone reamer for shotguns extends shorter factory forcing cones to a full 13⁄8" length, gently tapered for improved patterns and less recoil. These cutters have eight 8°, straight flutes that make them very smooth cutting reamers. They can be used to lengthen the chamber and cut the new forcing cone in one operation, or cut the forcing cone only, if desired. The long, non-cutting shank makes it possible to alter many barrels using only a large tap handle (shank is 7⁄16" square) to turn the reamer. An extension may be required on some barrels.

SPECS: HS steel. 8-7?8" (22.5cm) long. 31?2" (8.9cm) long shank. 12-1?2 oz. (35.4g).

Excellent new profile reamer from Clymer
The new profile Clymer reamer is an excellent tool. It is piloted by the chamber, and so cuts the forcing cone concentric with the barrel and chamber, leaving a smooth transition. This reamer works very well by hand. Just lubricate the reamer and turn it until the new forcing cone is finished. Make sure sure you clean the barrel and reamer well, as you are working to avoid score marks. I just polish with wet-or-dry sand paper on a wooden dowel to get that mirror finish. Good, sharp, easy cutting tool. Put a Sharpy line on the guide shank, so you cut both barrels the same depth on doubles.

cuts good
Cuts a good long Forcing cone easily. Follow the directions from Clymer and use plenty cutting oil. This is a messy job so put a bucket or oil pan under the barrel. You need a large size tap handle, I use one by Baker. I recommend polishing with Flex Hone after cone is lengthened. Must use carbide reamers on plated barrels!

not that great of a reamer.
chatters to much, not a smoothe cut, no performance improvements after following instructions, just a waste of money
