Deer Season XP .350 Legend Ballistic Test

Yesterday

350 Legend Ballistic Gel Test at 25 Yards

Caleb heads to the Brownells Big Springs range to test his 350 Legend handload in an FBI ballistic gel block. It is the same load shown in the Brownells video on loading 350 Legend. This short test uses one shot from 25 yards to show how the projectile behaves on impact.

What the Gel Block Shows

The shot passes completely through the block. Caleb observes a pronounced wound channel and estimates that the most visible expansion begins about 2½ inches beyond the entry point. Based on that channel, he says the Hornady projectile appears to have opened as intended.

Because the bullet exits the gel, this test does not provide a recovered projectile, a measured expanded diameter, or a complete penetration depth. It shows the visible result of this particular shot at 25 yards.

Caleb’s Deer-Season Assessment

Caleb likes the expansion shown in the gel and the fact that the projectile passes through the block. He notes that a longer-distance test or a different test medium could produce a different result. For the full load details, see the Brownells 350 Legend reloading video referenced in the test.
